Edible Bamboo Shoots
Welcome to another Food Day on Daily Dose of Art! After a whole week’s feature on “The Bamboo House”, I thought it makes good sense to talk about Edible Bamboo Shoots! Today we’ll learn how to cook fresh bamboo shoots and check out some bamboo recipes.
Info from Wikipedia
Bamboo shoots or bamboo sprouts are the edible shoots (new bamboo culms that come out of the ground) of many bamboo species including Bambusa vulgaris and Phyllostachys edulis. They are used in numerous Asian dishes and broths. They are sold in various processed shapes, and are available in fresh, dried, and canned versions.
Good news– if cooking fresh bamboo shoots seems too complicated, you can always run to your nearest Asian store and buy some canned bamboo shoots, all cooked and ready to go!
