August 19 is World Humanitarian Day. This week I bring you “Lights-Camera-ACTION!” a special feature on the world of celebrity giving.
For this year’s celebration of World Humanitarian Day, pop star Beyoncé has teamed up with the United Nations to launch an initiative urging people to give back to charities.
Beyoncé Discusses World Humanitarian Day At UN Headquarters Aims to encourage 1 billion people to give back to their communities
Beyoncé visted the United Nations headquarters yesterday (August 10) to get things in motion for the launch of the ‘giving back to charity’ initiative ‘World Humanitarian Day’.
The ‘Single Ladies’ star, who has teamed up with the UN to launch an initiative urging people to give back to charities, met with Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to talk about the new campaign that will launch on World Humanitarian Day (August 19).
A special video for the singer’s ballad ‘I Was Here’ from the her hit album 4 will be unveiled on World Humanitarian Day to mark the global event and the launch of the ‘giving back’ campaign. It was fimed at the UN headquarters last night.

A clip from the video has been given to the bosses of the campaign to help encourage one billion people around the world to give back to their communities.
Speaking about her involvement in the campaign, Beyonce said: “We all see the headlines and we think what can I really do to help?
”World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity for all of us to work together to make a difference. This is our time to leave our mark on the world and show that we were here and we care.”
The campaign website launched last week and encourages people to share their acts of goodwill.
